Anyone employed in providing public services can join UNISON.
That includes people working:
- in the public services;
- for private contractors;
- in the utilities;
- in community and voluntary organisations.
Joining UNISON means you have access to our huge network of stewards and reps, who are there to help you with your workplace problems.
Our members include frontline staff and managers working full or part time in local authorities; the NHS; the police, probation and justice services; universities, colleges, schools, youth and children’s services; the electricity, gas and water industries; transport; the Environment Agency; the community and voluntary sector, including housing.
Members of certain political parties that promote racism are not eligible for membership of the union. This specifically includes, but is not solely limited to, the British National Party, the National Front and similar parties.
